About the Provider

William B. Hickman IV, MD, completed undergraduate training at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Hickman graduated from Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). During his time at BUSM, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy Medical Corps. Upon graduation, he transitioned to active duty and completed a 1-year transitional year internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. After completing his internship, Dr. Hickman was assigned to the United States Marine Corps 2nd Marine Division in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, in the roles of medical officer and battalion surgeon. He spent the next four years providing acute and preventative care to over 1,000 Marines and sailors stateside and while deployed abroad. 

During the COVID-19 global pandemic, he co-created the screening protocols for units returning from international deployments and was chosen as the sole provider for the division COVID restriction of movement (ROM) barracks. After completing his service time, Dr. Hickman was honorably discharged and moved to the Washington, D.C., area to pursue pediatric residency. Dr. Hickman completed pediatric residency and chief residency at Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. 

He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, son and extended family. He enjoys watching sports, playing golf, trying new restaurants and traveling.
