About the Provider

Swati Goel, MD, is a versatile pediatrician with 20 years of comprehensive experience. She cares for age groups ranging from newborns to adolescents, provides health education to families, and coordinates medical care from admission to discharge. 

She is a driven professional certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, a provider and instructor in neonatal resuscitation, and is accustomed to handling complex medical care within a team setting. 

Dr. Goel has spent most of her career in academic medicine in Washington, D.C. At Howard University, she held various administrative roles including associate pediatrics residency program director and dean of faculty development of the college of medicine. She has served on numerous university committees related to the governance of the medical school, graduate medical education and professionalism, and national committees of the Association of American Medical Colleges group on faculty affairs and the Liaison Committee for Medical Education.

In addition to being an experienced program developer, she is a medical educator, having taught and mentored students at the undergraduate level, medical students and resident physicians in pediatrics, family medicine and pediatric dentistry. She was the 2018 HUCOM recipient of The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, which is given to one faculty member who consistently demonstrates compassion and empathy in the delivery of care to patients.

Dr. Goel continues to serve on the Howard University College of Medicine Admissions Committee. Dr. Goel received her medical school training at the United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy’s and St. Thomas’s hospitals in London, U.K., and completed pediatric residency and chief residency positions at the combined Howard-Children’s National residency program in Washington, D.C. She received her graduate certificate of Leadership Development and Certificate of Master Teacher in Medical Education from George Washington University.
