About the Provider

Shawnese Clark, MD, MPH, is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and a pediatrician at Children’s National Hospital. She provides care to a diverse and predominantly under-resourced patient population, with a focus on addressing social determinants of health and improving health outcomes for all children and families.

Dr. Clark completed her medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, earned a Master of Public Health from George Washington University, and trained in pediatrics at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. She also completed a research fellowship in minority health and health disparities at Northwestern University.

Her research focuses on adverse childhood experiences and mental health on pediatric populations, with the goal of advancing health equity through clinical care, research and advocacy.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
