About the Provider
Sandra Cuzzi, MD, is a pediatric hospitalist and an associate residency program director at Children’s National Hospital (CNH), as well as an associate professor of pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. She is a community hospitalist working clinically at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. Her primary academic interests in medical education are feedback and evaluation, education in the community setting, as well as resident advising, coaching, and mentorship. Her clinical interest is everything well newborn medicine.
Dr. Cuzzi was born in Lima, Peru and came to the US when she was 6 years old. She and grew up in Houston, TX. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. She attended Rice University then Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency training and chief residency at Children’s National Hospital and has continued her academic career here. She helped found the first CNH community pediatric hospital medicine program in 1995 at Holy Cross Hospital, where she served as pediatric hospitalist director from 1999 to 2007 and continues to serve as pediatric education director. Dr. Cuzzi was in the first CNH cohort to earn her GWU Master Teacher Leadership Development Program (MTLDP) Certificate back in 2003.
Dr. Cuzzi lives in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and occasional visits from her two adult children, loves hiking at National Parks and watching Nationals & Astros baseball.
