About the Provider
Nancy Bauman, MD, FACS, FAAP, is a fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist) at Children’s National Hospital and a professor of surgery and pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and holds subspecialty certification in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology.
Dr. Bauman specializes in the multidisciplinary management of complex pediatric conditions. She co-founded the Vascular Anomalies Program at Children’s National Hospital in 2008 and the Aerodigestive Program in 2012, both of which continue to provide coordinated, comprehensive care to children with complex vascular and airway conditions. She provides advanced pediatric ENT care at Children’s National Hospital and general ENT services at affiliated ambulatory sites.
She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1988. Dr. Bauman completed her residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa (1988–1993), followed by a fellowship in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa and in Sydney, Australia (1993–1994).
Dr. Bauman is internationally recognized as a leader in pediatric otolaryngology. She has authored more than 125 peer-reviewed publications and 20 book chapters and has directed over 20 international courses focused on complex airway surgery. She also serves as a reviewer for multiple leading journals in the field of otolaryngology.
