About the Provider
Michael Terao, MD, MEd, is a bone marrow transplant hospitalist at Children’s National Hospital and also works as the assistant dean for student learning at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. Dr. Terao graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed a pediatric residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. After completing residency, he served as pediatric chief resident at the Morehouse School of Medicine Pediatric Residency. He then completed pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Dr. Terao also received his Master of Education in the health professions from the Johns Hopkins University.
As a cancer survivor himself, Dr. Terao strongly believes in the importance of delivering clinical care that is of the highest quality possible while also being compassionate and empathetic. Dr. Terao has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts with his research interests focusing on how to best support learners in medical education who struggle with multiple choice question examinations. Dr. Terao is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology.
