About the Provider
Meghan Delaney, DO, MPH, focuses on advancing clinical strategy, strengthening physician engagement, supporting operations and leading enterprise-wide initiatives in close partnership with the chief clinical officer and Centers of Excellence leadership. She is associate chief clinical officer, division chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and director of Transfusion Medicine, in the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
Dr. Delaney is also a professor of Pathology and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), a scientific member of the BEST Collaborative and member of the American Board of Pathology Test Development and Advisory Committee.
Dr. Delaney’s scholarly focus is in clinical pathology, laboratory management, transfusion medicine, pediatric transfusion medicine and immunohematology. She has over 100 peer reviewed publications and lectures nationally and internationally. In global health, Dr. Delaney focuses on improving access to safe blood transfusion in developing nations. She serves as the chair of NIH’s BLOODSAFE Program that aims to improve access to safe blood in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS) recognized Dr. Delaney with the 2021 James Blundell Award. This is the most prestigious award given by the BBTS. Introduced in 1984, this award is given to recipients for original research resulting in an important and significant contribution to the body of medical and or scientific knowledge within the field of blood transfusion.
