About the Provider

Mary Micker, CPNP-PC, is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She earned a bachelor of science degree in 1978 from Columbia University and a master of science degree and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification in 2001 from The Catholic University of America. She joined Children's National Hospital in 1980, initially working as a registered nurse on the inpatient pediatric cardiology unit and then in the critical and acute care float pools. In 2001, she joined the Department of Neuroscience as a nurse practitioner, providing care to children in an outpatient pediatric neurology clinic.

In 2005, Mary was the first nurse practitioner hired by the Division of Pediatric Urology. She assisted in the development of the WISH clinic providing care to children with dysfunctional elimination. She has a special interest in caring for children with spina bifida and has formed valuable relationships with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in neurosurgery, orthopedics, physical and rehabilitative medicine and general surgery to improve complex care coordination.

Mary has been instrumental in expanding the urodynamic program and assisted in coordinating the inauguration of the video urodynamic program. She has served as a mentor/preceptor to numerous nurses, nurse practitioners and residents over her many years at Children's National.

Mary lived in Paris, France for four years. She has conversational skills in French and Spanish. She lives in Arlington, VA with her husband and has two adult children. She enjoys, hiking, gardening, travelling and skiing as well as spending time with family and friends.
