Manuel Torres, MD, is a general and thoracic pediatric surgeon at Children’s National Hospital and Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. He holds an academic appointment as an assistant professor of surgery and pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine and completed general surgery residency training at the University of Maryland/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Before joining Children’s National, Dr. Torres was a pediatric surgeon at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and assistant professor of surgery at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Torres specializes in minimally invasive surgery in infants, children and adolescents for many pediatric surgical conditions. He has specific interests in neonatal conditions such as biliary atresia, anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung disease and tracheoesophageal fistula.
