About the Provider

Lindsay R. Grimes, PhD, is a licensed clinical child psychologist specializing in early childhood mental health and development. Dr. Grimes completed her doctoral studies in clinical child psychology at West Virginia University. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress. She is an assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. At Children’s National, Dr. Grimes provides early interventions for young children and their caregivers in the Early Childhood Behavioral Health Program and conducts developmental evaluations through the Child Development Program. She has expertise in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and is a certified Within-Agency Trainer, and much of her work has focused on extending the reach of PCIT to families impacted by adverse experiences. Additionally, Dr. Grimes is a certified provider of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her clinical and research interests include the implementation and evaluation of early childhood parenting interventions, early childhood trauma, caregiver mental health, and increasing the accessibility of mental health care for under-resourced and at-risk populations.
