About the Provider

Laila Mahmood, MD, MPH, trained in pediatrics at the Herman and Walterman Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, pediatric hematology-oncology at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester, and hospice and palliative medicine with Capital Caring Hospice and Medstar Washington Hospital Center. While at Rochester, she also obtained a Master’s in Public Health. Her research focus is in pain and integrative therapies for sickle cell disease, as well as early integration of palliative care and perinatal palliative care. She enjoys educating medical students and residents in palliative medicine. When she is not at work, she enjoys cooking, baking, reading, traveling and spending time with her children.
