Katherine Dinterman McHugh, MSN, RN, CPNP-AC, is a pediatric nurse practitioner with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Team in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2007, she went on to receive her nursing degree from the University of Maryland - Baltimore in 2011. She worked for 10+ years as a pediatric oncology nurse with expertise in clinical research before graduating from the University of Virginia in 2023 with her advanced practice nursing degree with a focus in pediatric acute care. She is the president of the D.C., chapter of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses. Her work experience has focused on the care of oncology patients and their families from the time of diagnosis and into cancer survivorship.
