Joseph Robert Mijares, MD

Fellow, Emergency Medicine

Joseph “Robby” Mijares, MD, is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellow at Children's National. He earned his medical degree from George Washington University and completed pediatric residency training at Children's National. Dr. Mijares chose Children's National because of its high clinical volume, strong emphasis on research, and commitment to advocacy. He values opportunities to contribute to evidence-based care and meaningful improvements in pediatric outcomes. His academic interests include patient experience, quality improvement and LGBTQ+ health. Outside of medicine, he is an avid runner and is training for his first half marathon, with the goal of completing a full marathon by the end of fellowship.

Fellows are fully credentialed, board-certified providers who can independently practice medicine but are in further training in their specialty. This specialty training is under the supervision of an attending physician.
