About the Provider
Jennifer Dorr, DO, MPH, specializes in psycho-oncology in the pediatric brain tumor population, as well as the general pediatric oncology population and child and adolescent psychiatry. Her interests are child and adolescent psychiatry’s role in diagnosis and treatment-including psychopharmacology and psychotherapy of neuro-oncology patients. She is currently a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Children’s National and an assistant professor of psychiatry, behavioral sciences and pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She graduated child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Children’s National in June 2022 and since that time has been pioneering a new position at Children’s National, which is the integration of psychiatry and neuro-oncology. Her position is possible thanks to the gracious anonymous brain tumor grant which aims to promote neuro-oncology services and research at Children’s National.
Dr. Dorr received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology degree from the George Washington University. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Cooper University Hospital and received pediatrics training at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. During fellowship, Dr. Dorr served as the inpatient and education chief fellow at Children’s National. She has received several awards, including the Area 3 Resident Fellow Merit Award from the American Psychiatric Association and the Advocacy and Leadership Award from Children’s National. She serves on several local, regional and national psychiatric committees, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's National Advocacy Committee, and as the Area 3 American Psychiatric Association's Early Career Psychiatrist Deputy Representative. Dr. Dorr has presented nationally and internationally at both American Psychiatric Association’s and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s conferences. In addition to psycho-oncology of the pediatric neuro-oncology population, as well as the general pediatric oncology population, Dr. Dorr is also very passionate about mental health advocacy. She has testified numerous times to national and state senators and representatives about pediatric mental health. Dr. Dorr greatly enjoys her new integrative position and is enjoyingthe collaboration with neuro-oncology, other oncology specialties, psychology, neuro-psychology, palliative care, and social work. She feels grateful and privileged to have this position and is looking toward expansion of psychiatric care of the neuro-oncology population, including clinical aspects of care and research innovations.
