About the Provider

Jeannie Y. Chang Pitter, MD, FAAP, is the assistant director of the Primary Care Track. Dr. Chang Pitter’s career at Children’s National Hospital started at the Goldberg Children’s Health Center, Healthy Generations Program and Special Immunology in 2007. In 2009, she transitioned to Children’s National Pediatricians & Associates (CNPA) Foggy Bottom, home of the pediatric primary care track (PCT) residency. Dr. Chang Pitter took a four-year hiatus from 2014 to 2018 to work in Cambodia on a USAID MCH QI project reaching 600 health centers and 44 referral hospitals across the country. She also worked clinically for the U.S. Department of State as a pediatrician for the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh.

Dr. Chang Pitter majored as an undergraduate in human biology with a focus in women's health and also earned her medical degree at Stanford University. She completed pediatric residency in the primary care track at UCSF in 2004. From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Chang Pitter helped launch pediatric HIV treatment with PEPFAR funds through Baylor College of Medicine at Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda.

Dr. Chang Pitter is an assistant professor of pediatrics and community health at GWU School of Medicine & Health Sciences and completed the GWU Master Teacher Leadership Development Program in 2023. She leads PCT academic half-day and continuity clinic curricular planning. She developed a mental health curriculum for PCT residents in close partnership with child psychiatry which launched in January 2023.

Dr. Chang Pitter lives in Washington D.C. with her partner, daughter, cat and dog. Her oldest child has flown the nest. She enjoys baking, spending time outdoors, travel, and theater.
