About the Provider

Cassianna McCants, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist at Children's National. She works in the Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health and also joined the Developing Brain Institute in September 2023.

Dr. McCants specializes in early childhood behavioral health including the diagnosis and treatment of disruptive behavior disorders. She is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and has clinical expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), parent management training, anxiety interventions, and trauma interventions.

Dr. McCants graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a B.S. in psychology. She received a M.A. in Clinical Psychology with concentration on children and adolescents from The Georgia School of Professional Psychology. Dr. McCants received a PsyD in clinical psychology from The Michigan School of Psychology where her dissertation research focused on the techinques currently being used to teach cognitive assement testing skills to doctoral level psychology students. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center with a focus on infant and early childhood mental health and completed her post-doctoral fellowship in child clinical psychology with the Early Childhood Behavioral Health Program at Children’s National Hospital.
