About the Provider

Bhavin Dave, MD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. He joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in October 2008, where he was Associate Director of the Infant & Toddler Mental Health Program from November 2008 to March 2020, at which time the Early Childhood Behavior Health Program was founded.

As Co-Director of the Early Childhood Behavior Health Program, Dr. Dave’s primary area of focus is with preschool age children and the crucial role of early intervention, working in an innovative, collaborative and team-oriented model with the goal to provide the most comprehensive care possible to young children. His professional interests include collaboration within systems of care, psychoeducation of parents about early mental health and development, and teaching fellows, residents and medical students about preschool emotional and behavioral health.

Dr. Dave’s additional roles at Children’s National include Course Director of the Development Seminar Series for first year Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows, Site Supervisor for Saint Elizabeth’s and Howard University 3rd year Adult Psychiatry Residents in the Outpatient Psychiatry Department, Site Coordinator for Elective and Volunteer Observerships for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and outpatient consultant to the HIV Prevention and Treatment Program.

Dr. Dave attended undergraduate at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated with a double major in molecular biology and English-creative writing. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed his adult psychiatry training at Georgetown University Hospital, including a year as chief resident. He continued his training in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where he also spent one year as chief resident.

Dr. Dave has served on the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Infant and Preschool and HIV Issues Committees. He is Board Certified in both Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry.
