About the Provider

Ashraf Harahsheh, MD, FACC, FAAP, joined Children’s National Hospital in September 2008 as a full-time attending. He is currently the director of the Kawasaki Disease Program and Cardiology Resident Education and is active in inpatient and outpatient care, as well in the Preventive Cardiology Program with a focus on hyperlipidemia. Dr. Harahsheh completed his fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Mich.

Dr. Harahsheh is board certified in pediatric cardiology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology and a member of the National Lipid Association and the Academic Pediatric Association. Dr. Harahsheh received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Jordan-College of Medicine, Amman, Jordan. He is an active member of the Joint Council on Congenital Heart Disease’s National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative (NPC-QIC).

His research interests include resource utilization, quality improvement and development of new educational programs teaching the next generation of providers communication skills surrounding subspecialty referral. Dr. Harahsheh sees patients at the Children’s National main campus, Children's National Annapolis, Children's National Upper Marlboro, Cardiology Clinic at Charlotte Hall, Md., and Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va.
