About the Provider
Ashley Maxie-Moreman, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in HIV Prevention and Treatment Services at Children’s National Hospital. Dr. Maxie-Moreman specializes in the emotional, behavioral and cognitive aspects of patients’ health, with a particular emphasis on evaluating and treating psychological difficulties among youth living with chronic illness. She works within an interdisciplinary team to provide consultative and therapeutic services in an outpatient setting. She also holds a faculty appointment as an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and of pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Maxie-Moreman is committed to training, as she supervises students on research projects and in an outpatient clinic setting. She also contributes to research focused on the psychological impact of online racism among Black and Latinx youth, as well as protective factors. Additionally, she leads a research project focused on conceptualizing sickle cell disease identity and examining potential links between sickle cell disease identity and examining potential links between sickle cell disease identity and treatment decision-making.
