Alexandra Parkinson, PA-C, is a pediatric general surgery physician assistant who joined the Children’s National team in 2024. Prior to this, she worked for three years as a pediatric general surgery and trauma PA-C at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha, NE. She has a broad clinical background including caring for patients in the emergency department, intensive care units (NICU, PICU and CICU), and medical/surgical units, as well as surgical first assist experience.

She helps provide compassionate and comprehensive pre- and post-surgical care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has a passion for improving the quality of life for pediatric surgical patients and empowering patients and their families through education, advocacy and individualized care.

She works as the lead advanced practice provider (APP) for the surgical Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program at Children’s National, where she works with a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, gastroenterologists, dieticians and psychologists to provide and coordinate complex surgical care to improve outcomes for children with IBD.
