Megan Smith, MD, MPH

Hospitalist

Megan Smith, MD, MPH, is a pediatric hospitalist in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Children’s National in Washington, D.C., and a clinical instructor at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. 

Dr. Smith received her undergraduate degree at Rice University and her graduate degrees at The University of Texas Austin. Subsequently, she completed pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and pediatric hospital medicine fellowship at Children’s National. Dr. Smith’s scholarly area of interest is in health services and community-based participatory research that focuses on clinical operations and hospital-community partnerships that meaningfully address social needs.

Currently, Dr. Smith uses both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to explore how social needs like food insecurity impact asthma outcomes for children in the Washington, D.C., metro area, and how hospital-community partnerships can be leveraged to meaningfully address these needs through health system innovation.
