About the Provider
Maria Elena Arrate, MD, is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellow at Children’s National. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University and completed her pediatric residency training at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Dr. Arrate chose Children's National because of its high-volume, high-acuity clinical environment, strong culture of camaraderie, commitment to global health, advocacy and policy, and emphasis on mentorship and fellow development. Her academic interests include global health and capacity building, injury prevention, medical education, and curriculum development. Outside of medicine, she previously trained as an opera singer.
